A field of six has been declared for the rescheduled Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, headed by star sprinter Buffering.
The weight-for-age 1200m sprint and the Group Three Gunsynd Classic were saved from Saturday’s washed out meeting at Eagle Farm.
Spirit Of Boom is missing from the new line-up and will head to the Prime Minister’s Cup at the Gold Coast on Saturday while Captain Clayton and Moneysaver are additions to the original field.
The Rob Heathcote-trained Buffering has been placed at his past four starts, all at Group One level, and will be ridden by Jim Byrne while comeback sprinter Scenic Blast has the services of Shane Scriven.
Scenic Blast won the 2009 King’s Stand at Royal Ascot to go with his Lightning Stakes and Newmarket Handicap wins, earning the title of Australian Horse of the Year.
After a bleeding attack in the Hong Kong Sprint in December that year, he was sent to the United States where he was able to race on the diuretic Lasix.
He was placed in three of five starts in California and returned to Australia last spring where he was out of the money in two starts.
There were 17 three-year-olds accepted for the Gunsynd Classic (1600m) including Quintessential who ran third in the New Zealand Oaks in March.
